With the Rugby World Cup hitting England and more importantly the South East later this summer Sussex is looking forward to all things sporting. With a great variety of sport events happening in the area suitable for all the family make sure you don't miss out.

Walking the South Downs

Get your walking boots on this Autumn and explore the beautiful Sussex countryside on foot. The Sussex Walking Festival takes place between 26 September-4 October and offers over 50 themed walks, many of which are free. This 9 day walking event explores the Wealden landscape, Eastbourne, South Downs and surrounding area with an amazing network of paths and hidden treasures to be discovered! Book your walk here

1066 Walking Festival also offers a variety of walks to suit all ages and abilities between 3-9 October. This event will show just how much fun walking can be alongside the healthy aspects. Many of the walks will be free of charge, or by donation request.

Rugby World Cup

An exciting time as the 2015 Rugby World Cup takes place in England and Cardiff between 18 September - 31 October with Brighton Community Stadium playing host to two key rugby matches on 19 and 20 September. Eastbourne is the official team abse for South Africa, making up one of 41 team bases that will host the 20 competing teams during the tournament.

 

Great British Tennis Weekend

The Great British Tennis Weekend is a campaign run by the LTA encouraging more people to play tennis through offering free opportunities to play. The third and final Great British Tennis weekend takes place on 1 & 2 August and tennis venues have the chance to be involved by providing free tennis sessions to all ages and abilities.

 
 

Cycling Galore

Eastbourne Extreme

StreetVelodrome UK will enjoy two days of summer sunshine on Worthing’s beautiful seafront on 1 & 2 August. With circus workshops, safer cycling displays, a vintage bicycle display and even a funfair on the prom there is loads going on so make sure you don't miss out! 

If you can't wait until then for some cycling action head to Eastbourne Extreme on 18 & 19 July for some impressive displays from Zero Gravity Freestyle Mountain Bike Team plus a classic 1980's BMX tour run by Brighton Riders BMX. Eastbourne Music Live also makes up a part of Eastbourne Extreme with a live music stage featuring L.A.R.G.E and Dub 'n' Tuff All Stars!

 

Sport events

The unique Pride Diversity Games takes place at various venues throughout Brighton on 18 & 19 July. An event which will see community groups, businesses and individuals united by sport, regardless of sexuality, race, age or ability. A variety of sporting events will be played, including tennis, rugby, volleyball, badminton and bowling plus activities such as 5k Rainbow Run, classics such as the sack race and egg & spoon race!

In Worthing between 31 August-12 September Open Bowls Tournament for men and women competing equally against each other in Singles, Pairs, Triples and Fours competitions takes place.

 
 

1066 Target Sports

1066 Target Sports, Hastings1066 Target Sports is enjoying success as the most comprehensive indoor target sports centre in the UK. Located on the outskirts of Hastings this family run business has been voted Hastings Top Attraction (TripAdvisor) and 2nd place in East Sussex. The centre offers axe throwing, crossbow, air rifle, pistol shooting and archery with highly skilled and qualified staff on hand.
