Sussex offers a culinary adventure, from celebrity restaurants to seafood festivals and vineyards, there is so much delicious produce to sample right on your doorstep!

Sussex is bursting with food and drink events certain to get your taste buds tingling in 2016...  

The Brighton & Hove Food and Drink Festival is the largest festival of its kind in the south of England and returns between 28-30 May. With local producers, growers, restaurants, bars and food retailers firmly at it’s heart, enjoy a showcase of the fantastic food, drink and hospitality to be found in the city and surrounding Sussex.

Joy - a boutique summer festival is coming to Lewes between 25-26 June. With a great mix of artisan food and drink, street food and pop-up bars alongisde amazing outdoors, homewares and countryside lifestyle stands it's definately a date for the diary.

Celebrate all things Italian at the Horsham Piazza Italia this Easter, 25-28 March. Free to attend this Italian Festival has got loads on offer, including a wide range of car and bike displays, food markets, art entertainments and live music!

Getting bigger and better year on year Worthing Food & Drink Festival returns 24-25 September. Situated in Steyne Gardens there will be an eclectic mix of food and drink on offer along with a fantastic programme of cookery demos and talks within the festival marquee.

Harveys Dray at Beer & Cider by the Sea

Beer & Cider by the Sea returns to its seafront setting in Eastbourne on 27-29 May. Enjoy a mouth-watering bank holiday weekend with this three day festival offering a great selection of fine ales and cask ciders and so much more. Plus music entertainment from the likes of the Dirty Martini Swing Band, The Tar Babies and Unihorn.

Don't forget the Autumn Eastbourne Beer Festival, taking place 6-8 October at the Winter Garden. Always a popular one with over 160 real cask ales on top so make sure you get those tickets booked in advance.

Foodies Festival sees visitors flock to Hove Lawns between 29 April-2 May to enjoy an array of culinary activities including a live entertainment stage, cooking demonstrations and tasty treats from some of the top city restaurants.

Wealden Food & Wine Festival returns to its former home of the magnificent Pevensey Castle on 16 & 17 July. A country fair and festival offering the very best of Sussex food and wine, artisan goods, local crafts and live music. Plus cooking demos, wine talks, street entertainment and guided walks.

Sussex wines & vineyards

Sussex boast some of the finest sparkling wines in the world, with a range of vineyards open for visiting. Try the award winning Carr Taylor Vineyard near Hastings with tours and tutored wine tastings, or Ridgeview Wine Estate, a World Wine Award winner for Best Sparkling Wine.

For a range of producers in a rustic setting, the English Wine Centre near Eastbourne is a fantastic stop off. Sample wines in the shop or enjoy lunch in the Flint Barn Restaurant.

Fizz on Foot offers a range of walking and wine tasting tours, from one to four days, in East and West Sussex. A great way to enjoy the countryside whilst exploring vineyards and other local historical sites. Rathfinny Wine Estate in Alfriston also offers vineyard tours with options for either a winemakers lunch or afternoon tour; makes for a lovely gift or why not treat yourself?

The Kingscote Estate and Vineyard is set in a beautiful valley between the Bluebell Steam Railway and Weirwood Reservoir in West Sussex. Producing Kingscote wines and 'cyder' along with a range of English and Sussex sparkling wines. A great selection of vineyard tours are availables as well as clay pigeon shooting and fishing.

Court Garden on the outskirts of Ditchling village is a family run and internationally award winning vineyard. Why not enjoy a visit to the vineyard and taste their wonderful English Sparkling Wine whilst learning the story behind the vineyard?

Seafood delights in Sussex

If seafood is your thing you need to head to Hastings this summer with not one, but two fantastic seafood themed festivals taking place this year. The Hastings Midsummer Fish Festival is a free event taking place 25-26 June. A great way to enjoy the start of summer with stall holders promoting and selling local produce and of course seasonal fish.

The ever-popular Hastings Seafood and Wine Festival, 17-18 September, also returns with a mouth-watering weekend of delicious seafood and luscious wines along with themed activities and street enterainment to complete the lively festival atmosphere.

If that's not enough what about Bexhill Festival of the Sea - a month long event from 3-30 September! This event promotes all that is great about the seaside with a festival weekend happening on 3 & 4 September along with 7 different angling competitions during the festival month.

Markets

Eastbourne Street Markets take place on Terminus Road every Wednesday and Sunday and Horsham's Local Produce Market at Carfax is every Thursday and Saturday. 

1066 Country also has a host of markets around the area, including Battle, Hastings and Rye.
