The momentous battle between King Harold and the invading William of Normandy is a key event in British history and it all happened here in Sussex.
Pevensey Castle

The landing place of William the Conqueror, it was in Pevensey that William built one of two castles following his victory, building on top of a Roman fort. Explore the castle today with an audio tour and visit the dark dungeons.
William also built Hastings Castle and the ruins of this can be visited today with an audio visual tour of the 1066 Story.
Battle Abbey

The historic battleground at Battle Abbey is well worth a visit and includes a CGI film and audio tour of the battlefield, bringing the historic battle to life.
