Churches & Cathedrals

Arundel Cathedral, photo by Russ Tooley

A fine example of the French Gothic style, Arundel Cathedral has a stunning location overlooking the town.  For something a little more compact, Lullington Church in the South Downs is claimed to be the smallest in England, nearby Litlington Church in the Cuckmere Valley is known for George IV's secret wedding and the first Norman church in England, St Mary's Church, is steeped in history near Pevensey - the landing place of William the Conqueror.

Transport Heritage

Bluebell Railway

Sussex is the ideal spot for railway heritage, with the Bluebell Railway featured in TV & film, providing steam engines and restored stations from the 1950's.  Kent & East Sussex Railway offers a delightful steam locomotive ride to Bodiam Castle and the Lavender Line includes a beautful 2 mile ride and the opportunity to explore the Victorian station and signal box.  For motoring enthusiasts, the museum at Bentley displays a range of vintage and classic motors from turn of the century to Formula 1, all in the setting of a country park!
